  Aromatherapy Properties: Astringent, stimulant, asthma,  stomachic, tonic, dysmenorrheal, immune stimulant, circulatory, carminative, alterative, hysteria, analgesic, rheumatism, arthritis, emmenagogue, uterine tumors, amenorrhea, obesity, antiseptic, menopause, hypochondriacs, disinfectant, visceral affections, expectorant, antispasmodic, antifungal,  and diabetes. It is also used to make perfumery products.

History: Opoponax is in the same family as Myrrh, has a sweeter, softer and longer lasting aroma, very different from the sharp freshness of Myrrh Oil. It has been a component of incense and perfumes since Biblical times, and is mostly talked about in the Song of Solomon. Opoponax is also known as Myrrh Sweet.
Safety Notes & Cautions: Generally non-toxic. Can sensitize skin. Avoid during pregnancy. Phototoxic. Do not use if the area of application will be exposed to sunlight for 24 hours due to its photo toxicity. Can sensitize skin, and all topical applications should be carried out in dilution.
